Meet the CRC Board of Directors:

Jay Sciarabba, President.  Jay is a lifelong supporter of youth sports and programs in Ithaca and the Central New York area.  His involvement in youth sports has spanned over 40 years, which have been a major part of his life as both a player and educator.  Jay has been a CRC Board Member since 2012, and has been the President since 2014.  Jay has played both High School and Collegiate hockey and was a member of the Ithaca High School State Championship team in 1987.  Jay’s extensive hockey coaching experience includes IYHA Pee Wee Travel, Ithaca Shooting Stars, Daddy & Me, IYHA Mite House, and presently Ithaca Bandits and Syracuse Cadets.   Jay, along with his wife Karen, own Trader K’s, one of New York’s largest independently owned used clothing stores.  Jay also owns numerous commercial and residential real estate properties in Tompkins, Cortland and Cayuga counties. Jay is also an investor to a local independent grocery store in Lansing NY.  Jay resides in Freeville, NY with his wife Karen and son Dane.

Larry Young, Vice President of Rink Operations. Larry is a Vice President at Richardson Brothers Electric.  Larry graduated from Cornell University in 1973.  While at Cornell, Larry was a member of the varsity Cornell Lacrosse team, and was a contributing team member on the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse National Championship team in 1971.  Larry has been on the CRC Board of Directors for over 18 years.  He is the Local 241 IBEW treasurer.  His coaching experience includes Ithaca Youth Lacrosse (President and coach), Ithaca Youth Baseball, Ithaca Youth Soccer and the Ithaca Youth Hockey Association.  Larry resides in Ithaca, NY with his wife, Jennifer Engel.

Andy Sciarabba, Treasurer.  Andy is an esteemed businessman.  He co-founded the accounting firm Sciarabba-Walker & Co. over 30 years ago.  He retired from the firm in 2007.  Andy has been involved with growing a commercial real estate portfolio which he co-manages with his wife, Rosemary,”Ro”.  He is also actively involved in 2 manufacturing companies as well as a software company. His most recent project is the redevelopment of the former NCR property on South Hill across from Ithaca College which will consist of finding tenants to fill the 275,000 square foot building and remediating the site under the DEC Brownfields program.  Andy was the principle founder of Community Recreation Center, Inc. in 1986, raising capital funding and built “The Rink” in 1995 and further fund-raising and building “The Field” in 2000.  Among Andy’s civic engagements include:  member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors and serves as treasurer and chair of the Finance Committee for Tompkins County Area Development;  Village of Lansing Road Improvement Committee, Chamber of Commerce committee member;  founding board member for Kendall of Ithaca; Corporate division chairperson for the Cayuga Medical Foundation – Radiation Therapy Center;  and served on the Board of the Business Innovation Center.  Andy resides in Lansing with his wife, Ro.

Don Sevey, Secretary.Don is a Director of Information Technology at Cornell University.  He is responsible for all technology initiatives for Student and Campus Life and the Vice Provost for Enrollment.  He is a member of the Project Management Institute.   Don has been on the CRC Board of Directors for over 15 years. Don is an identical twin and grew up near Parishville, NY.  Don is an avid ice hockey fan and golfer, with 2 career hole-in-ones.  Don was also a little league baseball coach for the Town of Lansing, NY.  Don resides with his wife Pam, in Ithaca, NY.

Steve Colt.  For nearly 30 years, Steve has been the Director of Parks & Recreation for the Town of Lansing.  With over 50 different programs taking place throughout the year and 3 main parks located in Myers (Myers Park), Ludlowville Park and the Ballfield Complex located at the Lansing Town Hall.  Steve has been very active in the region’s youth sport scene for over 25 years. Prior to his Parks & Recreation position, Steve was employed with Robert Cullen and Associates.  A 1979 graduate of Cortland State (Physical Education) he is a lifelong Lansing resident and resides in Lansing with his wife Ann Colt.  Steve is an avid skier and enjoys motorcycling.
